JOIN OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Individuals wishing to volunteer their time to make a meaningful contribution to BIAN are invited to complete a board application at the bottom of this page. Any current board vacancies will be posted here, but interested candidates are welcome to apply at any time for consideration for future openings. Applications will be kept on file for up to one year.

BACKGROUND:

BIAN's mission is to empower and enhance the quality of life for people in the Niagara region, living with the effects of acquired brain injury (ABI) through support, social activities, community and peer opportunities, advocacy, and information. 

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

As the highest leadership body of the organization, the board of directors is responsible for:

  • Upholding the mission and purposes of the organization

  • Selecting and evaluating the performance of the executive staff

  • Strategic and organizational planning

  • Ensuring strong fiduciary oversight and financial management

  • Fundraising, grant writing, and resource development

  • Implementing and monitoring the organization’s programs and services

  • Enhancing the organization’s public image

  • Assessing its performance as the governing body of the organization

Board meetings take place on the third Wednesday of the month, every other month from September to May virtually  at 6:00 pm. Successful applicants will be required to attend virtual board meetings, in-person AGM (June), and dedicate their time to one+ standing committee.
