About Joanne Smith
As a Certified Nutritional Practitioner, Joanne specializes in providing optimal nutritional health for people with disabilities and neurological injuries.
Her expertise in the disability community comes from her personal experience of living with a spinal cord injury for over 20 years, as well as her years as host and producer of the Gemini award winning CBC television show Moving On, a national television program that focused on telling in-depth stories about Canadians with disabilities.
Joanne was inducted into the Terry Fox Hall of Fame in 2007 in recognition of her dedication to raising awareness and improving the lives of Canadians with disabilities. In addition to her nutritional practice, Joanne currently hosts the television show Accessibility in Action and is co-author of Eat Well Life Well with Spinal Cord Injury, the first nutrition book dedicated to addressing the unique needs of people with SCI.
Joanne graciously presented this nutritional workshop to our BIAN participants on March 14, 2013 and has given her permission for us to share this via our website.
Joanne is a graduate of the Institute of Holistic Nutrition in Toronto.
